On June 7, 2021, Jeff Bezos stated that he will be part of the first crew to fly in a Blue Origin capsule and that he will launch his own rocket into space on July 20.

Since then, there has been a lot of conjecture about who would fill the remaining seats on the inaugural passenger voyage. Blue Origin has now revealed the name of another passenger who will travel to space with Jeff Bezos and his younger brother Mark for a 10-minute journey.

Wally Funk will be joining the first crew to fly in a Blue Origin capsule, according to a tweet from Blue Origin. On July 20, Jeff Bezos invited Funk to join the crew as an honored guest.

Bezos captioned a video of his conversation with Funk as follows: “No one has waited longer. In 1961, Wally Funk was at the top of her class as part of the “Mercury 13″ Woman in Space Program. Despite completing their training, the program was cancelled, and none of the thirteen flew. It’s time. Welcome to the crew, Wally. We’re excited to have you fly with us on July 20th as our honored guest. #GradatimFerociter.”
