Former professional boxer Viviane Obenauf has been arrested and is accused of beating her husband to death, police say.

The husband of Obenauf, who was not officially identified but is referred to as “Thomas” by prosecutors, was beaten to death on October 19, RT said. The seven-week investigation included a search of the apartment for the couple and the gym for Obenauf, the outlet reported.

Obenauf’s husband, who was 61, was found dead in the couple’s apartment in Interlaken, a Swiss town southeast of Bern, from “massive injuries” from a “sustained violent assault.”

In January of this year, Obenauf and her husband were married, and the former boxer and mother of one regularly shared family pictures on social media. A friend of hers who attended the wedding said, Blick Local Outlet Reported, “I knew both of them very well and the death has shocked me,”

According to Swiss police, after sustaining “massive injuries” from a blunt object, Obenauf’s husband was killed, RT wrote. Blick claimed that Obenauf had previously been arrested for an assault after she punched a man in the face in a nightclub in London who she said wanted to grope her. According to Blick, Obenauf ended up spending a few hours in jail after that October 2016 incident.

One of Obenauf’s former boyfriends also spoke about the Brazilian super featherweight boxer at the outlet, saying: “She always had two faces. It’s like flicking a switch.”

A while before she became jealous of one of his friendships, he said the two had been dating and ended up hitting him in the face multiple times. He said he wanted to report her at the time, but ultimately withdrawn his case because he said that his mother had just died and that he “had no more strength for this legal battle,” Blick said.

Her husband, according to his friend, Martin Soche, was famous in their town and will be missed.

He commented on their relationship in an interview with Blick, and the last moments they spent together.

He said: “He was easy to get along with and worked with passion.

“I had borrowed glasses from him for a birthday party and had to bring them back.

“Then we had another beer together. And now he’s just not there anymore. It has shaken everyone up.”
