A Young mum accused of manslaughter wept when a court heard that for six days she had left her baby home alone.
Verphy Kudi, wiped tears from her eyes when she was sent to Crown Court for her 20-month-old daughter’s alleged manslaughter. It is suspected that for six days, she left the baby home alone and the infant died from neglect.
She is 18 years old.

Asiah, aged 20 months, was taken from the address on Wednesday, December 11, by ambulance to the Royal Alexandra Children’s Hospital in Brighton and was reported dead shortly after arrival.

Manslaughter Over Death of Her 20-month-Old Daughter Full Details
Jeremy King told the CPS that on December 5 last year, Kudi was filmed on CCTV arriving at her flat in Brighton, with her daughter in a buggy.
The court was told by Mr. King: “She then leaves the flat and doesn’t return until the afternoon of December 11, some six days later.”
A post-mortem review found that, the court heard, the child died from abuse.
Kudi, of no fixed address, appeared at Brighton Magistrates ‘ Court via video connection. She spoke only to affirm her identity, and the accusation against her was understood by her.
Next month, Kudi was remanded to appear at Brighton Crown Court.
Yesterday, a statement from Sussex Police stated: “A mother has been charged with causing the death of her daughter in Brighton.
“Verphy Kudi, 18, currently of no fixed address, is to appear in custody at Brighton Magistrates’ Court on Monday 19 October, charged with the manslaughter of her daughter Asiah, aged 20 months, at an address where they were living in Islingword Road, Brighton, in December 2019.”
