Tommy Robinson claims to have been arrested in central London during a heated protest.

The far-right protester, real name Stephen Yaxley-Lennon, was filmed on Sunday afternoon as police escorted him away from a rally in Hyde Park.

The English Defence League founder, 37, can be heard shouting at officers in one apparent video of the incident: “You’re breaking my arm — I haven’t done anything wrong.” Another video shows a group of about 20 police walking around him as they try to clear a path through a crowd of angry onlookers.


He is 37 years old.


When Robinson, real name Stephen Yaxley-Lennon, was taken away by police, he can be heard protesting his innocence and claiming that ‘I haven’t done anything wrong’. He also tells officers ‘you’re breaking my f***ing arm’, Just like they’re handcuffing him. Ultimately, the police took him away and put him in a van while people gathered to watch the scene unfold.

A spokesperson for the Metropolitan Police said in a statement, ‘Officers were policing an assembly at speakers corner, Hyde Park on Sunday, 1 November.

‘At 2.44 pm a man aged in his 30’s was arrested under the coronavirus regulations for holding or being involved in the holding of the event. ‘He has been taken to police custody.’

About Protest

Supporters claimed the initial gathering was about showing support for another activist, Hatun Tash, who, after showing a picture of the prophet Muhammad, claims to have been assaulted at Speaker’s Corner, an act deemed profoundly offensive to Muslims.
