Who Was Lisa Shuler?

Lisa Shuler, a resident of Irondequoit, died last month at the age of 37. Donald and Lauren Shuler, her parents, raised her in Poughkeepsie.

Shuler was a “kind and kind lady” who spent her career helping individuals in need in nursing facilities in the Rochester area, according to her obituary. She was most recently employed at Webster’s Hill Haven Rehabilitation and Transitional Care Center.

According to RRH spokeswoman Veronica Chiesi Brown, she was training to become a licensed practical nurse and expected to graduate in November. Friend and classmate Kayleigh Storms said, “Lisa was very compassionate,”

“She was very friendly. She loved everybody. She was just an absolutely amazing person.”

Storms claimed she had no idea her companion was in a risky scenario at home.

Kelli Woods, a student counselor, noted that in addition to assisting Lisa’s classmates in their grief, it was an opportunity to discuss domestic violence with them.

Kelli Woods said, “Domestic violence is a prevalent issue in our community and a lot of people suffer alone,”

“We just want to make sure that everyone knows there are people out there ready to listen to them.”
