He was 54 years old.
Robert Rowland married Lisa Marie.
Rowland had three sons and one daughter and.
In 2019, by standing as a candidate for the Brexit Party, Rowland chose to return to politics, and at a European level. In May of that year, Rowland gave his first major address as a candidate at the Lakeside Hotel in Frimley, Surrey, describing opposition to Brexit as a possible “coup against democracy”.
On 9 July 2019, when he tweeted to David Lammy, MP, Rowland’s Twitter activities earned national attention: “Lammy, you’re the first port of call should be the Chicago School of Economics. Complete 3 years and then you might understand 10% of what we all understand. Ignorance and race-baiting is your signature tune.”
Users of Twitter said that the Chicago School of Economics is not an actual university, but a school of thought and that it will take 4 years for American degrees in any case, not 3. David Lammy also said that he had previously attended the University of Harvard.
Rowland tweeted the next day, on 10 July 2019: “We are behind all our fisherman and the restoration of sovereignty over our waters. 200 miles of exclusion zone with any foreign fishing vessel given the same treatment as the Belgrano! Well done June. We are 110% behind you and will ensure you give ‘em hell on committee.”
On social media, his attempt to sink international civilian fishing vessels were widely circulated and criticized.
On 24 January 2021, his death, following a diving accident near his home in the Bahamas, was announced.
