Police did not provide clear evidence that Marley intended to shoot up the store that day. However, the incident happened in the aftermath of two mass shootings that rocked the country and sparked widespread calls for gun reform: a shooting at a supermarket in Boulder, Colorado, that killed ten people, and a series of shootings at three Atlanta-area spas that killed eight people.

Police released a photo of the arms Marley was reportedly carrying when he was arrested on Thursday.
According to Atlanta Police, a preliminary report found that Marley entered the store openly with a gun and entered a bathroom on Wednesday afternoon.
A spectator saw him and told the store manager, who then called the cops. Police said they arrived just after 1:30 p.m. and “immediately arrested” Marley when he left the bathroom. Emergency care personnel were also called to the scene to perform a mental health assessment.
According to an incident report released Thursday by Atlanta police, Marley was carrying an AR-15 style rifle and a 12-gauge shotgun in a backpack, as well as four handguns concealed under his clothes.
The six weapons were all loaded, and Marley was wearing body armor and a ski mask when he was apprehended, according to the investigation. There were no injuries or shots fired, according to the police.
According to the incident report, the person who reported Marley to the Publix manager told police that “he heard clicking noises from the bathroom stall” in the store and that “it sounded to him like someone was loading weapons.” He also said that he saw an AR-15-style rifle “leaned against the wall.”
Publix said, “We are thankful that there were no injuries, and all were able to exit the store safely,”
“The store is currently closed. Additional questions should be directed to the Atlanta Police Department.”
In a statement, Publix confirmed that its Atlantic Station location is working with law enforcement on the investigation.
