During the painful wait as family members of two persons who perished in the catastrophe grieve their loved ones, a Brazilian woman named Raquel Oliveira whose husband and 5-year-old kid are missing in the deadly Florida building collapse is allegedly focused on “staying alert.”

Alfredo Leone, Raquel Oliveira’s husband, and their son, Lorenzo, are among the 149 persons still missing in the Champlain Towers South in Surfside, where the dead toll stood at 149 as of 12 a.m. Wednesday.

She told the Miami Herald that she planned to “stay alert” as the search-and-rescue operation entered its seventh day.

“Friends, I’m well, I’m calm. I’m trying to avoid thinking about them and instead I’m focusing on what needs to be done,” Oliveira wrote on Facebook, adding that she gave officials in charge of the meticulous operation a DNA sample.

According to the news outlet, the Brazilian native, who was visiting her mother in Colorado when the tragedy occurred, stated her Italian husband’s family would submit DNA samples from Spain.

Oliveira wrote on Facebook, “I can’t get emotional right now otherwise I will fall apart,”

GoFundMe Campaign

Carolina Lara, a friend of hers, started a GoFundMe campaign, which raised up to $31,000, according to the Herald.

Lara claimed her distraught friend was finding solace in the outpouring of love from friends, and that her sister was in Miami to help.
