Pearl Fernandez Bio
Pearl Fernandez was born August 29, 1983, and from the United States. She and her Boyfriend Isauro Aguirre have been charged with the murder of Gabriel Fernandez, Pearl’s son.
Gabriel Fernandez was eight years old, and he was killed in May 2013 after being beaten, tortured and hungry by his mother Pearl Sinthia Fernandez and her boyfriend Isauro Aguirre, allegedly because Aguirre believed the boy was gay.
Pearl Fernandez And Her Boyfriend Got Arrested
Pearl Fernandez and her boyfriend were accused of murdering Gabriel Fernandez, Pearl’s son. After suffering months of abuse and torture by Pearl and her boyfriend, the 8-year-old boy was taken to hospital on May 22, 2013, where he was pronounced brain dead and died two days later from his injuries.
The case is brought back into the public eye by a new Netflix document series. “Gabriel Fernandez’s Trials” is a six-part series released on February 26 that outlines the murder of Gabriel and how the abuse could continue without the intervention of the Ministry of Children and Family Services (DCFS).
The details of Gabriel’s torture and death are difficult to bear, and viewers may struggle with certain mini-series parts. The show raises many questions about the circumstances of the case, in particular about Pearl Fernandez’s part in torturing and murdering her child.
In 2018, she pleaded guilty to First-degree Murder & Murder involving Torture
Following months of terrible abuse and torture by his mother and her boyfriend Isauro Aguirre, Gabriel died on 24 May, 2013. Pearl Fernandez pleaded guilty to murder at first degree and murder that involved torture. Instead of going to trial, she accepted a plea bargain that would give her life in prison and spare her death penalty.
On June 7, 2018, after victim impact statements had been read, the LA Times reported that Superior Court Judge George G. Lomeli sentenced Fernandez, then 34, to life imprisonment without parole. He said this was abuse “horrendous, inhumane and nothing short of evil.”
Fernandez read a letter of apology during her sentencing hearing, which has been transcribed by the LA Times: “I want to say I’m sorry to my family for what I did,” she said. “I wish Gabriel was alive. Every day I wish that I’d made better choices. I’m sorry to my children, and I want them to know that I love them.”
She is now in Chowchilla State Women’s Prison in California for the remainder of her sentence.
Her son Gabriel lived most of his life with her Parents Until She Decided to Take Him Back
The Netflix document series reveals that she didn’t want to raise Gabriel and left him in the hospital when he was born, according to Pearl’s family. They said she was 23 years old when Pearl got pregnant with Gabriel, and already had two older kids, Ezequiel and Virginia. The three, Arnold Contreras, shared the same father.
On the show, Elizabeth Carranza told producers “Pearl didn’t want pregnancy. And when she had him, she left the hospital and left him there. “Gabriel was sent to live with Robert and Sandra Fernandez, Pearl’s parents in late 2005 when he was less than a year old. During the trial, Robert shared in an interview that they raised all three of Pearl’s children, but in 2009 Ezequiel and Virginia went to live with Pearl and Gabriel remained with them, until 2012.
