At his assisted living center in Lafayette, an old man named Okey Payne suspected of killing an employee faces a first-degree murder charge.
Okey Payne admitted to murdering Legacy Assisted Living employee Ricardo Medina-Rojas in a police report released on Thursday.

Investigation (Murdered Worker Details)
Investigators say Payne believed employees were stealing from him at the plant, located at 225 Waneka Parkway, drugging him and eventually attempting to kill him. He also supposedly thought that his ex-wife was working with the employees to try to steal all his money.

Police state the Lafayette Police Department and Adult Protective Services have reviewed all of these allegations and none has been substantiated.
The .45 caliber pistol used in the shooting was given to him by his father when he was 23, and his father used it during the First World War.

Charged
He is now facing a first-degree murder charge, and he is being held ahead of a court appearance.
Arrested
Payne shot Medina-Rojas in the head in the facility’s lobby Wednesday morning after questioning him about stealing $200 from his pocket, the arrest affidavit states. Payne then went back to his room and was arrested there by the police.
