Nate Silvester, an officer with the Bellevue, Idaho Marshal’s Office who mocked basketball star LeBron James in a viral TikTok video, has also backed Kim Potter, the former Brooklyn Center veteran cop charged with second-degree manslaughter in the shooting death of Daunte Wright, 20.
He also has 200,000 followers on TikTok, where he often shares videos about his life as a cop.
He pretends to call LeBron for advice on what to do when he arrives at a stabbing in the video. Before asking anyone outside the car to, he says, “Can I have LeBron call my cell phone right away please,”
“put the knife down”.
He continues, “No, stop stabbing. Hold on, it’s LeBron,”
He again says, “LeBron, hey, yeah it’s me again. Listen I’m out here responding to a disturbance call and there’s a guy trying to stab another guy with a knife. What do you think I should do?”
He then says, “Why does that matter? Ok well, they’re both black. One guy is trying to stab another guy with a knife, deadly force is completely justified,”
“So you don’t care if a black person kills another black person but you do care if a white cop kills a black person, even if he’s doing it to save the life of another black person.”
Nate says at the end of the video, “I mean it doesn’t make a whole lot of sense but then again you are really good at basketball so I guess I’ll take your word for it.”
In only two days, the skit has gotten 3.6 million views and 540,000 likes, and it’s still going viral on the app.
