Mohsen Fakhrizadeh Mahabadi was an Iranian Revolutionary Guard officer and a physics teacher at Tehran’s Imam Hussein University. He was born in 1957 in Qom, Iran.
Fakhrizadeh was a senior scientist at the Ministry of Defense and Armed Forces Logistics and a former director of the Physics Research Center, according to the UN Security Council (PHRC). On 27 November 2020, he was assassinated.

Career
Fakhrizadeh was subject to the asset freeze and travel notification provisions of the UN Security Council because the Council said the IAEA had demanded Fakhrizadeh to be interviewed and Iran refused to make him available.
Iran has given some information with respect to Fakhrizadeh’s work, which the IAEA says “are not inconsistent with its findings” but the IAEA continues to attempt to corroborate its findings.
Fakhrizadeh was a senior scientist at the Ministry of Defence and Armed Forces Logistics and a former director of the Physics Research Center, according to the UN designation (PHRC).
The IAEA requested him to question him about the activities of the PHRC, but he declined to do so during the time he was head of the PHRC.
Fakhrizadeh was named as the chairman of the Field for the Expansion of Deployment of Advanced Technology (FEDAT), the cover name for the agency operating Iran’s nuclear weapons program, in an internal 2007 Iranian document leaked to the Sunday Times.

According to a statement from the Iranian Ministry of Defense, “After a clash between the terrorists and his bodyguards, Mr. Fakhrizadeh was severely injured and rushed to the hospital. Unfortunately, the medical team’s efforts to save him were unsuccessful and minutes ago he passed away.” Three to four other people probably the gunmen were also killed in the attack.
