Dr. Sindi, as she was affectionately known, had become ill earlier this year after catching COVID-19. Van Zyl’s family said she died on the morning of April 10, 2021, at a Johannesburg hospital in a statement released on Saturday afternoon.
The medical doctor rose to prominence after sharing her encouragement and advice on Twitter, where she quickly amassed a large following.
Her family said in a statement, “Sindi always offered support and great advice to educate those around her. Not only was she a beacon of love and light on her Kaya FM show _Sidebar with Sindi’, _and all her social media platforms, but she genuinely loved and gave endlessly to all she knew with grace and kindness. She modeled the love and grace that she knew in Jesus.”

They have two children named Nandi (9 years old) and Manie (5 years old).
According to Dr. Sindi Van Zyl’s Twitter, they got married on 7 August 2004. Her husband Marinus van Zyl is a computer programmer and highly intelligent.
