According to the children’s father and court records, the woman named Liliana Carrillo arrested in connection with the slaying of her three children at their San Fernando Valley apartment was involved in a volatile child custody dispute.

Authorities said Liliana Carrillo was arrested in Tulare County on Saturday after fleeing the scene and leading police on a long-distance chase in which she reportedly carjacked a pickup truck in Bakersfield.


She is 30 years old.

The children were 6-months-old, 2-years-old, and 3-years-old, according to CBS Local. The children were stabbed to death, according to several news sources, but the Los Angeles Police Department tweeted that the cause of death is still unknown.

On April 10, 2021, the Los Angeles Police Department wrote on its Twitter page, “We can confirm Liliana Carrillo is the mother of the three children who were killed, and she is considered the sole suspect in this case.”


Carrillo was the subject of a huge manhunt by police. She was eventually apprehended in Tulare County’s Ponderosa area.

The Los Angeles Police Department issued another statement on Twitter, writing, “The cause of death has yet to be determined, as well as a motive. At this time we are asking for the public’s help in locating a person of interest in this case, a female Hispanic 30 years old named Liliana Carrillo.”

In a later update, police said, “Liliana Carrillo has been taken into custody in the Ponderosa area of Tulare County.”
