Eva Leanza Cornett, who was crowned Miss Florida 1992 and Miss America 1993, was an American television personality and beauty pageant titleholder. He was born on June 10, 1971, in Big Stone Gap, Virginia.
She died of a head injury after being hospitalized on October 28, 2020.
She was 49 years old.
Leanza Cornett graduated from Terry Parker High School in 1989. In 2006, she was inducted into the school’s Hall of Fame.
At the ‘Voyage of The Little Mermaid’ show at Disney’s Hollywood Studios at Walt Disney World Resort in 1991, she was the first actress to play a live-action version of Ariel, the title character from The Little Mermaid, and was a member of the contemporary Christian music group Area Code, which released their single album, One Big World, before Leanza’s big break.
She has also hosted many TV shows, including Entertainment Tonight (1994-1995), Fresh Attitudes (1998), and Who Wants a Multi-Millionaire to Marry? (2000), and in TV series such as Melrose Place, The Tick, and Fear Factor, he made television guest appearances.
She also worked as a reporter for the coverage of the Eukanuba AKC National Dog Show programs for Animal Planet and anchored the “On The Block” show on DIY Network.
Barefoot in the Forest, Godspell, The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas, Bye Bye Birdie, and Voyage of the Little Mermaid were her stage credits.

On July 22, 1995, Cornett married a television journalist, Mark Steines. Cornett was let go from her Entertainment Tonight role weeks after their wedding, only to be immediately replaced by Steines himself.
Thay has 2 sons, Kai Harper who was born on 19 February 2002, and Avery James was born on 4 November 2003. Following 17 years of marriage, the pair later divorced.
