Since 2005, FBI Special Agent Laura Schwartzenberger has worked for the FBI, specializing in crimes against children.

She was 43 years old.

She was assigned to the Innocent Images National Initiative of the Miami Field Office, which goes after persons involved in the online abuse of minors, including the manufacture, distribution, and reception of child po*n and se*tortion.

In order to get them to pay a ransom, Se*tortion is a fraud whereby con-artists try to persuade victims that they have se*ually compromising images and videos of them.

In 2018, Schwartzenberger shared her crime expertise with CBS News 12 and expressed concern for the victims. “For the victim, it is very traumatizing,” she said. “There’s their reputation on the line.”

Schwartzenberger claimed in the complaint she wrote that she received instruction on effective investigation methods for these violations, including the use of surveillance, undercover, and the preparation and execution of warrants for arrest and search.
