A youngster named Joshua Ortiz was tragically died on Tuesday in Erie, Pennsylvania, when he was struck by a public bus just blocks from his school, according to authorities.
Joshua Ortiz was running late for his third-grade class at McKinley Elementary School when he attempted to cross the street and was struck by an Erie Metropolitan Transit Authority bus, according to cops.
He was 10 years old.

According to YourErie, the death was declared an accident after authorities reviewed security evidence.
On the contribution page, she added a description, “I am fundraising for my son’s funeral; Joshua Ortiz, who got hit this morning and passed away anything will help,”
“I appreciate and thank anybody who is able to help out he was such a happy boy; always had a smile on his face so energetic so outgoing.”
Superintendent Brian Polito of the Erie School District stated in a statement that counselors will be available for kids and staff members who were grieving the loss.
According to YourErie, he wrote, “I speak for the entire Erie’s Public Schools family when I say how saddened we are by this tragic accident. Our hearts are with the student’s family, friends, classmates, teachers and all who knew him,”
“We are doing everything we can to support that community and will continue to do so.”

Officials from McKinley Elementary School released a statement on Facebook, “support for Joshua’s family will not stop while school is out of session for Christmas break, and will continue once we are back together on January 3rd.”
“The safety and well-being of our students, families and staff are our top priority.”
Joshua’s mother, April, started a GoFundMe page to help with funeral expenses after the tragedy. It had raised nearly $26,000 as of Thursday night.
