Just before 2 a.m., OfficerAnastasios Tsakos was hit by a 2013 Volkswagen in the LIE’s eastbound lanes near Francis Lewis Boulevard.
Jessica Beauvais, of Hempstead, was driving while intoxicated and with a revoked license when she swerved to avoid other cars and struck Tsakos as he stood next to his marked vehicle, according to police.
She is 32 years old.

In the early hours of Tuesday, Anastasios Tsakos, a veteran of the New York Police Department (NYPD)and father of two young children, was killed in a car accident.
Tsakos was diverting traffic from a recent fatal accident on the Long Island Expressway in Queens when the horrific incident occurred. In this case, he was hit by a moving car, and a suspected drunk driver was arrested.

Beauvais initially fled the scene after colliding with Tsakos, but she was apprehended shortly after.
She is also charged with two counts of vehicular manslaughter, reckless endangerment, fleeing an officer in a motor vehicle, leaving the scene of a fatal accident, aggravated unlicensed operator, and driving a motor vehicle.
Reckless driving, driving without a license, DWAI alcohol, collide with an emergency vehicle, and right of way violation: emergency motor vehicle are among the charges she faces.
