Gerald Peter Remy, better known by his nickname Jerry Remy, was an American Major League Baseball broadcaster and former second baseman.
He was born and raised in Somerset, Massachusetts.

According to a 2009 Boston Globe feature, Phoebe met her husband in 1972 while he was working in an off-season clothes store in Fall River, Massachusetts.
Phoebe also worked there, and on their first date, the two went Christmas shopping.
In 1974, when he was 22 and she was 20, they married. She is of Portuguese ancestry.
Remy’s mood swings are something Phoebe has grown accustomed to, but he was never abusive, she told the Globe.
When he was in a rut, though, life at home was unpleasant. People still tell her that she must have a lot of laughs at home.
Phoebe began attempting to persuade Remy to quit smoking when he was 40 years old, according to the 2009 Globe profile.
He ultimately agreed to leave sixteen years later.
How Did Jerry Remy Die?
Remy died of lung cancer on October 30, 2021.
In November 2008, Remy was diagnosed with lung cancer for the first time.
He’s missed a few broadcasts since then due to health issues. Remy had another relapse in 2013.
According to ESPN, he missed most of the 2017 Spring Training due to a recurrence. Remy has beaten cancer four times, according to CBS Boston.
In 2021, his cancer resurfaced, and he stated that he would be taking a leave of absence in August to receive treatment.
