In the late 1970s, Brunel started his career working as a modeling scout for Karin Mossberg’s Paris agency, Karin Models. He became the director of Karin Models in 1978.
In 1988, Next Management Corporation was founded by Jean-Luc Brunel and his brother, Arnaud Brunel. In 1989, the global modeling agency Next Management Company was founded by the Brunel brothers and Faith Kates. Kates held a controlling interest in the business with a minority stake of 25 percent owned by the Brunel brother’s Next Management Corp.

On 16 December 2020, as he was about to board a flight to Dakar, in Senegal, Brunel was intercepted by police at Charles de Gaulle airport in Paris. He was then placed for questioning under ‘garde Ă vue’ detention.
He is being held in connection with rape, sexual harassment, criminal conspiracy, and trafficking in human beings, and minors are implicated in all the charges. In interviews with French prosecutors, Thysia Huisman was a former Dutch model and one of many women who accused Brunel of sexual harassment. When she heard of his arrest, the Associated Press reported, she cried “tears of joy.” Huisman revealed to police that when she was 18 years old, Brunel drugged her and raped her in 1991.

Since an investigation began in August last year the French police have been seeking him. In September 2019, a call for witnesses saw multiple former models coming forward with reports of suspected assaults spanning three decades.
Charge
In July this year as part of a sex-trafficking ring allegedly operated by Epstein, Ghislaine Maxwell was charged by New York federal prosecutors with helping hire, groom, and potentially sexually assault minors as young as 14.
