John Magufuli Death Cause
Since 27 February Magufuli was not seen in public and rumors were online circulating about him as ill and potentially disabled. On 10 March 2021, a Kenyan newspaper announced that “a leader of Africa” was being taken in a hospital in Nairobi for COVID-19, thus speculating that it might be President Magufuli.
Opposition politician Tundu Lisboa said he had learned it had been Magufuli who contracted COVID-19 and was hospitalized, citing anonymous sources and not presenting details of the situation.
Vice-President Samia Suluhu announced on the night of 17 March 2021 that Magufuli had died locally at 6 p.m. at Mzena hospital in Dar es Salaam, where he received treatment. She did not define the underlying disease of Magufuli but said that for more than 10 years, she has been suffering from chronic atrial fibrillation.
She declared that 14 days of mourning will be nationally flying flags with half-services.
