Hendrikus Jacobus Maria Harry van Raaij was a Dutch functionary who served as the chairman of the Dutch sports club PSV Eindhoven between 1996 and 2004. He was born on 29 August 1936 in Haps, Netherlands.

Van Raaij died at the age of 84 on 16 November 2020.


He was 84 years old.


He was a supporter of the Atlantic League, which would have been a rivalry in smaller European countries for larger clubs. Professionally, he was a Philips manager.

Van Raaij joined the PSV board as treasurer in 1984. He was a passionate fan of the club, the Haps-born Noord-Brabanter.

Then Jacques Ruts, the president of the board, brought in Van Raaij. He witnessed PSV’s biggest victories, such as the European Cup 1 win in 1988. Van Raaij was promoted as chairman in 1996.

Under his leadership, PSV enlarged the De Herdgang stadium and training complex of Philips and the requisite sporting milestones were achieved: including four national titles and one KNVB cup.

After his time at FC Barcelona, the striking chairman managed to seduce Phillip Cocu to return to the club as a player and he was able to get Guus Hiddink as a coach for a second term.

Death Cause

Harry van Raaij, the former PSV chairman and an honorary member of the club, has passed away. PSV is reporting that.
