Gordon Arthur Cyril Stewart best known as Butch Stewart was a hotelier and businessman from Jamaica. He was born on 6 July 1941 in Kingston, Jamaica.
He was the founder, owner, and president of Sandals Resorts, Beaches Resorts, and their parent company, Sandals Resorts International, as well as Appliance Traders and The Jamaica Observer, the ATL Group, and its subsidiaries.
On 4 January 2021, Stewart died at the age of 79 in Miami. He had suffered from an unspecified disease.

Career
Stewart became a salesman after completing his education in England, and ultimately went on to become the general manager of the Dutch-owned Curaçao Trading Firm.
Stewart later left to start his own company, Appliance Traders, Ltd. in 1968, which at first specialized in importing and selling air conditioning units, water coolers, and stoves but grew to sell almost all. In January 1993, Stewart also founded The Jamaica Observer newspaper and launched the Air Jamaica Acquisition Group in 1994 to buy a majority stake in Air Jamaica.
For a majority share of the airline, the company paid $37.5 million, of which Stewart held a 46 percent interest and became the new chairman of Air Jamaica. In 2004, Stewart’s party sold their airline shares back to the Jamaican government.
