Nichole Schmidt, Petito’s mother, told reporters at a press conference in Bohemia, Suffolk County, “We are looking for her… I believe she’s gonna come home,”

Schmidt and Petito’s stepfather Joe have appealed to the public for assistance in locating their daughter, who has been missing since August 25.

A woman named Gabby Petito from Long Island has gone missing while on a cross-country road trip with her boyfriend, and her family is asking for the public’s aid in finding her.

Gabby Petito was last seen in Wyoming’s Grand Teton National Park in late August, after heading on a trip with her boyfriend, Brian Laundrie, whom she had met on social media the month before, according to Newsday.

Her father’s name is Joe Petito And her mother’s name is Nicole Schmidt.

Nicole Schmidt, Petito’s mother is a Blue Point homeowner, reported Petito missing to Suffolk County police late Saturday.

According to a press release from the police department, “Gabrielle Petito was traveling in a white, 2012 Ford Transit van with Florida license plate QFTG03 with a companion when she stopped communicating with friends and family,”

The distraught mother told Newsday late Sunday that her daughter FaceTimed her around Aug. 23 or 24, and that while she received texts from her daughter’s phone until Aug. 30, she wasn’t sure she sent them.

Petito’s father, Joe Petito, told Newsday that her absence is “like the disappearance of a child.”

He added, “drowning with your hands tied behind you,”

“You can’t describe it. There’s nothing you can do. You can’t control anything.”
