An urgent search has been launched for a missing LSU student named Freshman Kori Gauthier whose car was discovered abandoned but with the engine still running.

Kori Gauthier, a freshman, was last seen on her way home to campus on Tuesday night. Her car, however, was discovered abandoned in Baton Rouge’s Mississippi River Bridge.

Another driver slammed into her stopped vehicle, only to find there was no one behind the wheel. Her belongings were discovered in the car, including her wallet, driver’s license, and phone.

The hunt for Kori has enlisted the help of the Cajun Navy.

They pinged her phone and found it in her car, which had been towed to the salvage yard. Kori’s uncle, Spencer Gauthier, claims her boyfriend was the last person to see her, but police insist there is no proof of foul play.

Spencer took to social media to ask for help from the public, posting a video and saying, “A lot of you guys have been asking me how can you help. Getting on the ground, that will help me.

“I can’t answer every phone call, but if you’re there physically to pass out flyers, to beat the pavement, that’s all I need, Like I said the car, the phone, the wallet that’s all been found. I just haven’t found my niece yet.”

Volunteers and law enforcement officials gathered at the LSU School of Veterinary Medicine this morning to coordinate search efforts.
