Edward Cagney Mathews (Mount Laurel NJ) Bio/Wiki
Edward Cagney Mathews, of Mount Laurel, New Jersey, has been charged with harassment and biased intimidation after being recorded on camera “shouting offensive and racial remarks.”
Below are videos of the original event as well as his arrest.
The original video is extremely troubling since it shows Mathews screaming vile racial obscenities at his Black neighbors even after a police officer arrives. On Monday, July 5, 2021, he was arrested.
He is around 45 years old.
He’s in the Burlington County Jail in New Jersey, according to the authorities.
Mount Laurel Police issued the following statement on their Facebook page: “On Friday July 2nd, at approximately 7:50 PM, a resident of the 3800 block of Gramercy Way reported that she is continually harassed by her neighbor, Edward Cagney Mathews, age 45.”
They added, “A disturbing video was widely circulated on social media showing Mathews shouting offensive and racial slurs at his neighbors. An investigation was conducted resulting in Mathews being charged with harassment and biased intimidation. The charges were placed on a summons by a municipal court judge to be heard at future court appearance.”
On July 4, Michael Tucker posted a video of a man identified as Mathews in a verbal altercation.
Tucker proclaims on Facebook that he is an “Assistant Football Coach at Woodrow Wilson High School.”
“So why are you here?” Mathews, who was dressed in a green T-shirt and shorts, muttered something to the neighbor. “Don’t touch me,” the neighbor said, raising his hands.
Mathews added, “Back up, back up, keep backing up,”
After Mathews used the racial insult, a neighbor called him a “monkey, white monkey.” Mathews, on the other hand, continued to throw racist language at the man, repeatedly calling him the N-word. Mathews stated that he would wait for the cops to arrive, referring to his neighbor as a “dumb ignorant n*****.”
The neighbor said, “That’s all you know how to do, walk up and harass people,”
Mathews said, “Learn your law. This is not Africa.”
On the sidewalk, he stated he was standing on “common ground.” Mathews stated that he planned to walk the cops off the property.
On July 4 Tucker wrote, “This is not my video; I did not record it. However, this is happening in Mount Laurel New Jersey. This is what my family and I are currently enduring. As you can see Mount Laurel Police Department were called, but nothing was done.”
Mathews said he said to the police to “get these f***ing monkey n*****s out of here.”
Mathews added, “f*** you, go talk to these n*****s.” The officer said at one point, “Thanks man, I appreciate it. I’ll do my job, all right?”
A woman says, “I want him to go away. I want him to leave me alone,”
The officer said, “Cagney cut it out now,”
Mathews continues to spew racist slurs, “You f****** n*****s,”
The officer said, “Cagney go home. I’ll talk to you in a minute,”
