On November 1, TMZ reports, Eddie Hassell, who appeared on NBC’s Surfaces and Lifetime’s Devious Maids, was shot and killed in Texas. He was 30.
Haskell’s representative told TMZ that during what appeared to be a carjacking early Sunday morning in Grand Prairie, Texas, the actor was shot and killed.
The deadly shooting was announced at around 1:50 a.m., according to KPRC. Block 3000 of West Bardin Lane. The Houston News Station reports that Hassell was discovered by police suffering from a gunshot wound and rushed to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
He was 30 years old.
The artist, who, according to his IMDB website, was originally from Corsicana, Texas, relocated to Los Angeles at age 11 to pursue his full-time career.
Hassell’s biggest role in the sci-fi film, Surface, which also starred Leighton Meester and Lake Bell, was to play the regular Phil Nance series.
Hassell also worked on the big screen in addition to guest-starring on various TV shows, including Bones, Southland,’ Til Death, and Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip.
He starred in films with Annette Benning and Julianne Moore, such as The Kids Are All Right, and The Family Tree, starring Rachel Leigh Cook and Dermot Mulroney.
In 2013, he starred in a Steve Jobs film about Ashton Kutcher’s Jobs. Hassell played Chris Espinosa, a Jobs neighbor, who was hired to create circuit boards in the garage of the Apple founder at the age of 16.

Hassell was shot Sunday morning in what appears to be a carjacking, according to his spokesperson, although the case is still being investigated. It is unknown where the crime took place in Texas.

Eddie’s rep tells us he was killed somewhere in Texas early Sunday morning over what seems to be a carjacking. His team is working to get more details, but they confirm that, in fact, he died.
