In 1997, Double K hooked up with his partner, Christopher ‘The Ones’ Portugal. They released their debut project, The Next Move, the following year. Since then, they have released fifteen albums and three compilation albums consisting of music that their studio projects have not made.
By releasing their final album, Sincerely, The P, in 2019, they agreed to officially disband.
People Under the Stairs have been crucial to the underground scene on the West Coast throughout their tenure. However, before the end of their career, the group did receive some mainstream love.
The duo got to work with the legendary George Clinton, thanks to Double K’s tenure as a Funk Mob member. They also partnered with other veterans of hip hop, such as Jurassic 5 and Hieroglyphics.
It is reported that Turner was 43 years old, although no cause of death was made public.
Tributes to the fallen artist started pouring in on Twitter in the early hours of Sunday morning (Jan. 31). The cause of death has not been disclosed as of this writing. Fans and fellow artists alike, however, continued to praise the late rapper.
