Dolores Avery Bio/Wiki
Steven Avery’s mother Dolores Avery, who was at the center of Netflix’s Making a Murderer, died at the age of 83.
Kathleen Zellner, Steven’s attorney, verified Dolores’ death on Thursday morning. Steven’s 59th birthday is just a day after her death.
Kathleen issued a note to Steven’s supporters, requesting their support after he was dealt “another cruel blow.” She tweeted: “Update: Fate dealt another cruel blow to Steven Avery today right before his birthday tomorrow; his mother Dolores Avery passed away at 6:50 am.
“He needs your support now more than ever,” she continued before saying “RIP Ma Avery”.
He was 83 years old.
How Did Dolores Avery? (Death Cause)
Is Dolores Avery Still Alive 2021? No, Earl, Steven’s brother, told TMZ that his mother was in hospice care in the weeks leading up to her death and had dementia. He confessed that his mother had not spoken to Steven in at least eight or nine months.
Later, Steven informed the publication, “Losing my parents before I got out has always been my worst nightmare. Now it has happened.
“I worry my Dad will not live to see me as a free man. Today I lost the person I most wanted to take care of and give a better life when I am freed. I cannot put in words the pain of losing my mom.”
Who is Dolores Avery’s Son Steven Avery?
Dolores was adamant that her son was innocent.
Steven was sentenced to life in jail in 2007 after being convicted of the murder of Teresa Halbach, a 25-year-old photojournalist, two years prior. Steven and his lawyers continue to fight for his innocence despite the guilty verdict.
Brendan Dassey, Steven’s nephew, was convicted of being a co-conspirator and is currently serving time in prison.
Steven had previously served 18 years in prison for sexual assault and attempted murder of Penny Beerntsen, which he had been falsely convicted of. Kathleen took up Steven’s current case for the first time in 2016. She claims that his rights were violated and that investigators got evidence in ways that went beyond the scope of their search order.
She claims that she has new witnesses, implying that Steven will be retried. She also requested that the appeals court put his current appeal on hold and remand his case to circuit court so that new witnesses’ testimony may be heard.
Making a Murderer, a Netflix docuseries, made a big deal out of Steven’s narrative. The series raised suspicion on the intentions of the cops investigating Halbach’s death, leading some viewers to believe the two were unfairly convicted.
