Jersey City Dog Mac Bio/Wiki
A Jersey City man was “living a nightmare” as he searched for days for his beloved pooch after it mysteriously vanished with a dog-sitter, only to receive word from a vet that the dog named Mac had died while supposedly in the woman’s care.
Diego Chaves said he left his mini Goldendoodle, Mac, with a woman he thought was a professional sitter named Alyssa outside of a high-rise building in Jersey City on Friday morning.
Dog Mac was a year and a half.

Chaves said to News12, “In the beginning, everything was great with the sitter. She sent us pictures, gave us updates. And it really took a turn Monday morning,”
However, when Chaves attempted to retrieve his pet, the woman was uncooperative, according to Chaves. He wrote in a since-deleted Instagram post, “Living a nightmare right now. I was waiting to pick up Mac this morning when the sitter stopped responding,”
After nearly 24 hours of silence from the sitter, he received an email from her claiming that she had lost Mac after he jumped out of the car, according to the outlet.
Chaves stated that he then began hearing horror stories from other pet owners who had previously used the sitter. Chaves said to the outlet, “After posting on social media, a lot of reached out to me telling me different stories. I can’t tell if they are true. It does seem like she is not telling the truth,”
On Wednesday evening, he received a phone call from a veterinarian informing him of some bad news. Chaves stated in a now-deleted Facebook post, “After rushing down to the vet we were informed that Mac had unfortunately passed away,”
Chaves did not respond immediately to a request for comment.
