In October 2019, Daphne Westbrook was reported abducted from Chattanooga, Tennessee, with investigators claiming that her father, John Westbrook, held her against her will by keeping her inebriated. What Daphne was free of or where she had been driving has yet to be revealed. Daphne had been reported missing in Hamilton County for the past two years, and the District Attorney’s Office had been searching for her.

When Samson police discovered her, they promptly notified the Hamilton County District Attorney’s Office investigator, who came on the scene.

Multiple agencies were involved, according to Chief Hill, including the TBI and the SBI. Daphne was released when it was found that she was not in immediate danger and that she did not require any assistance in any way. The Hamilton County District Attorney’s Office posted on Facebook about Daphne’s discovery, he said, “We are thankful Daphne is safe and no longer being held by her father. It is especially gratifying to be able to tell her mom that Daphne is free and no longer being hidden.”

He added, “This doesn’t change our goal to find and prosecute John Westbrook. Our investigation remains active and we expect new developments within the next couple of weeks. Tennessee Bureau of Investigation Chattanooga Police Department.”

Investigation

According to the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation, the now-18-year-old was discovered in Samson, Alabama, a small hamlet a few miles north of the Florida border.

The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation issued the following statement: “UPDATE: Daphne Westbrook, the subject of an Endangered Child Alert issued under the Holly Bobo Act earlier this week, has been found safe in Samson, Alabama!”

They added, “Thank you for joining us in staying vigilant in this ongoing search!”

Melydia Clewell, chief of staff for the Hamilton County District Attorney’s Office, also stated that Daphne was let go since she was considered an adult at the age of 18.

Daphne also stated that she did not want to speak to her mother because they had a falling out while she was in the tenth school.

According to reports, the distinctions between the two arose as a result of the importance of school. After completing tenth grade, Daphne dropped out. Hamilton County’s statement further said, “That doesn’t change our goal to find and prosecute John Westbrook.
