Cash Gernon Bio/Wiki
A teen was arrested in connection with the death of a 4-year-old boy named Cash Gernon whose body was discovered in a Dallas street wearing an ankle bracelet.
Cash Gernon, the boy who died from multiple fatal wounds caused by an “edged knife,” was named by his mourning guardian on Sunday, according to WFAA.
He was 4 years old.
Who Is The Suspect?
On Saturday, his guardian said, the “happy-go-lucky” boy was sleeping when a suspect, identified by cops as 18-year-old Darriynn Brown, barged into his home through a back door and abducted him.
In connection with Cash’s murder, Brown has been charged with abduction and robbery. According to the Dallas Morning News, he is being held on $750,000 bail. Brown was arrested in late April for eluding police, and the case is still pending, according to the newspaper. He stayed with his parents just a half-mile from where the boy’s body was discovered, according to court records.
According to WFAA, the suspected kidnapper had been forced to wear an ankle tracking bracelet in connection with a previous charge.
Brown allegedly targeted her son, whose body was later found in the street by a jogger early Saturday, according to the boy’s grieving mother. His guardian told the station off-camera that the teen suspect had never met Cash.

The abduction was also caught on surveillance footage, according to the guardian. According to WFAA, investigators asked neighbors for some additional video evidence on Sunday to help them put together what happened.
Brown was frequently seen in the city’s Mountain Creek section, according to some nearby residents. Jose Ramirez, the neighbor, said, “Hard to believe,”
“I don’t think [Brown] was in his right mind.”
Ramirez said cops scoured the area over the weekend after discovering the boy’s body. He told WFAA, “They were back in the alley, looking through trash containers to see if they could find any type of evidence,”
“They went down the street, and they spent a good time down there.”
Another resident, Katie Guillen, dropped off flowers at a makeshift memorial where the 4-year-old’s body was found. Guillen said “It’s just so sad that someone woke up this morning and lost their child without a warning,”
“How do you throw away someone’s body like he’s nothing? He’s someone’s kid.”
Darriynn Brown Charges
Brown has been charged, according to Dallas police, and further charges are expected after a forensic investigation.
According to reports, Brown was being held at the Dallas County Jail on Monday. It’s unclear if he’s retained an attorney to speak on his behalf.
According to the Dallas Morning News, the kid, who has not been named by authorities, was discovered shirtless and shoeless in the street and died before 5 a.m. Saturday.
