Dame Barbara Windsor was an English actress known for playing Peggy Mitchell in the BBC One soap opera EastEnders and for her roles in the Carry On films. She was born on 6 August 1937 in Shoreditch, London, England.
In 1994, she joined the EastEnders cast and won the 1999 British Soap Award for Best Actress, before finally leaving the show when her character was killed off in 2016. On 10 December 2020, she died at 8:35 pm at the age of 83.

Husband And Affairs
Windsor had been married three times and had no kids. Her 1st husband was Ronnie Knight they were married on 2 March 1964 and divorced in January 1985. Her 2nd husband was Chef/restaurateur Stephen Hollings, married in Jamaica on 12 April 1986 and divorced in 1995. Her 3rd husband was Scott Mitchell, former actor, and recruitment consultant, and they were married on 8 April 2000.
She had a one-night stand with East End criminal Reggie Kray before her marriage to Ronnie Knight, and an extended affair with his older brother Charlie Kray.
She had an on-going affair with fellow actor and co-star, Sid James, which lasted 10 years until his death in 1976, during the time she made the Carry On films. She and Knight were joined on their honeymoon by another of Windsor’s Carry On co-stars, Kenneth Williams.
At the age of 13, Windsor started her career on stage in 1950 and made her film debut in The Belles of St. Trinian’s (1954) as a schoolgirl while studying maritime management at Bow Technical College. For the film Sparrows Can’t Sing (1963), she earned a BAFTA Award nomination and a Tony Award nomination for the 1964 Broadway production of Oh, What A Lovely War!.
In the 2016 New Year Honours for services to charity and entertainment, she was named Dame Commander of the Order of the British Empire.
In the BBC television film, Babs, written by EastEnders scriptwriter Tony Jordan, Windsor starred in a cameo role as herself in May 2017.
In the 1990s, it showed Windsor as she prepares to go on stage and remembers incidents from her past, including her youth, gangster Ronnie Knight’s marriage, and her appearances in the films Carry On.
