After months of speculation about the breed and name of their potential pet, President Barack Obama and his family received the dog as a surprise. Bo was born on October 9, 2008, in Chicago, Illinois, United States. Bo died on 8th May 2021.
Early in 2009, the Obama family adopted a Portuguese Water Dog that was a gift from the late Senator Ted Kennedy.
