In Poughkeepsie, the body of a man named Andy Neiman who has been missing since leaving a hospital emergency room last month has been discovered.
On Wednesday, Andrew Neiman’s body was discovered near the Hudson River in Poughkeepsie. According to his sister’s Facebook page dedicated to the quest, his identification was confirmed on Friday.
Neiman had walked out of the Mid-Hudson Regional Hospital emergency room on the night of May 21 while waiting to be transferred to a psych unit. He was from St. Louis, but he was in Ulster County to see his relatives.
He was 48 years old.

Stephanie Saur reported Neiman’s death on the GoFundMe page she set up to assist find him after he vanished from the MidHudson Regional Hospital in Poughkeepsie, New York, on May 21.
She wrote, “We are utterly heartbroken to share that Andy’s body has been found in Poughkeepsie,”
“THANK YOU to all who have given so much to help with the search.”
Saur added, “The funds previously donated will cover funeral costs and we’re increasing our goal to raise additional funds to support Andy’s 8-year-old daughter,”
“Thanks to all who have contributed to this effort.”
Emily Asher Abramson, Neiman’s sister, also posted the tragic news on a public Facebook group set up after he went missing to aid in the hunt.
She confirmed, “Yesterday it was confirmed that the body found on the Hudson River shoreline in Poughkeepsie on Wednesday was indeed him,”
Emily added, “As before, when we were on the hunt to bring him home, your words of love and prayer and encouragement bring me great comfort at this time,”
“Do not be afraid of saying the wrong thing. Thank you for being the web that I can fall into.”

Cohen, 53, had previously posted a missing person’s flier to Facebook around two weeks after Neiman vanished.
The leaflet stated that Neiman was a “missing vulnerable adult with schizophrenia” who was last seen wearing green scrubs and was suspected to be in the area.
according to Page Six, Cohen said, “Andy is younger than me, but we went to the same camp – Nebagamon in Wisconsin – and the same high school,”
“I’m praying for his safe return, along with a lot of folks in St. Louis.”
