Amanda, who appeared in the YouTube video series Soft White Underbelly discussing her drug addiction, died at the age of 25.
Amanda’s death was reported by the channel in a video. As of May 16, 2021, the video had over 540,000 views. It was released on the 15th of May, 2021. Although the foul play, relapse, and self-harm have been ruled out, the cause of death is unknown.
The video is captioned, “Soft White Underbelly interview with Lima and Amanda’s father, Larry who speak about the tragic passing of Amanda this week.”
She was 25 years old.
Amanda was a Skid Row resident who spoke on the YouTube series about her experiences with crack cocaine and prostitution. More than 3 million people watched a video about her. She was born and raised in Inglewood, California. She spoke about how she grew up without a mother.
Amanda, a native of Los Angeles’ Skid Row, shared her story with the world for the first time in December 2019. She opened up about her crack addiction as well as her sex work history. Amanda is seen with a black eye in one of the videos and is unable to remember whether she has spoken with Mark previously.
Amanda clarified she was now seeking care with the aid of Lima, who helped coordinate and pay for her rehabilitation efforts, in a video posted by Soft White Underbelly in April 2021. Amanda seemed upbeat about her prospects. She explained, “I want people to see that it takes time and effort.”
“Being sober and being in recovery are two different things. I am in recovery. I just want to make action and do the things so that I can stay sober for the rest of my life.”
She revealed that, in addition to her opioid addiction, she had been diagnosed with schizophrenia, which was one of the reasons she decided to stay clean.
Lima Jevremovic says in the video that she thinks Amanda died of natural causes, as a result of the long-term trauma she endured from being homeless.
However, her autopsy reports are yet to be received and are unlikely to be for some time, so the formal cause of death remains unknown. Amanda (May, 2021), Skid Row, Los Angeles is the title of Mark Laita’s video. The YouTube series was founded by Laita. He said to E News, “Until Amanda’s autopsy is finished we won’t know exactly what caused her death on Sunday (5/9). All we know is they’ve ruled out drugs or foul play. We should know more in the next week or so.”
So sad to discover that Amanda from Soft White Underbelly has passed away. She died of natural causes, having been clean for almost a year. RIP to such a determined and sweet soul, who touched so many hearts 💕 pic.twitter.com/axc5sQNL84
