Incident Full Details
Cops were summoned to the scene and discovered the three family members lying dead in a nearby snowbank upon arrival. It seemed like the car had gotten trapped on a boulder, according to the sheriff, and Dougherty had been trying to get it out.
Police have not disclosed how they died or whether they are investigating the deaths as suspicious. They did not say how long they had been dead, either. Sheriff Brian Gilbert of Ogemaw County said the family was known to be visiting the area and they’re still trying to figure out exactly what happened. They had not been seen since the 12th of January and were reported missing on 16 January from Bay City.
Last week, the Michigan State Police issued an endangered missing family advisory and canceled it after the family was found dead on Monday morning. The Bay City Department of Public Safety, which opened an investigation last week into the disappearance of the family, said it closed the case on Monday and handed it over to the authorities of Ogemaw County.
To assist with funeral expenses and to care for the older daughter of the couple, who was not with them when they died, friends and family have launched a GoFundMe campaign.
