City spokesman Pat Dowling told MyHorryNews.com that Dayvault turned herself into the police in North Myrtle Beach.
Devault was admitted to a local hospital in December 2018, where she delivered the placenta and an umbilical cord, according to testimony. Although they were compatible with a full-term pregnancy, at the hospital no child was born.
At the hospital, earlier that month, Dayvault admitted giving birth to a baby boy at her house. She said the baby was born alive and breathed many times after giving birth.
Police said that without seeking assistance or notifying officials, she disposed of the infant’s body in a public receptacle at her apartment complex.
Police collected medical records during their investigation that revealed that Dayvault was in her third trimester of pregnancy on Nov. 4, 2017 (over 30 weeks pregnant) and that the fetus had a stable heart sound.
Police found the remains of a male infant, who Dayvault admitted was her son, during a search at Dayvault ‘s South Oak Drive home, authorities said.
Dayvault also told police she did not seek medical attention for the newborn boy, according to arrest warrants, nor did she make any effort to “preserve or save” his life. She said she had disposed of his body in a trash can at her home after he died.
Police searched her home and found the remains of a newborn child, admitted to being her son by Dayvault.
Police retrieved medical records from the previous year during their investigation, showing that Dayvault was in her third trimester of a stable pregnancy and that the infant — a girl — had a healthy heartbeat.
Dayvault admitted under questioning that she had also given birth to a baby girl in late 2017, according to the arrest report. She acknowledged that the baby was born alive and breathing, but that she did not take any action to provide that baby with medical attention. She told police that she had disposed of the baby’s body in her apartment complex in a dumpster.
Dayvault kept her pregnancies in 2017 and 2018 from everyone, including her boyfriend and mother, according to WJCL-TV.
In reported interviews, Dayvault told the police that her daughter was born with an umbilical cord around her neck and died. After giving birth to their son, she also reported having blacked out for at least 15 minutes. She said when she woke up, she found him dead. She put the bodies in trash bags both times.
