Between 7:55 a.m. and 8:15 a.m., the fatal incident, which the highway patrol identified as an isolated road-rage altercation, occurred near West Chapman Avenue. According to CHP Officer Florentino Olivera, the 6-year-old was seated in the back seat of a Chevrolet sedan as his mother drove northbound on the 55 at the time of the shooting.
According to California Highway Patrol, the gunman was believed to be driving a newer model white sedan, probably a Volkswagen wagon sedan. From Chapman Avenue, the car was last seen driving northbound on the 55.
The suspect’s description was not immediately available.
The northbound 55 Freeway was blocked at the scene, and the video showed a phalanx of officers searching the pavement for evidence. Florentino Olivera, California Highway Patrol Officer said, “If your vehicle has a dashcam, we’re asking you, please provide that video,”
“If you were driving by, you saw something that was not right, call it in — even if it wasn’t something major.”
Aiden’s mother has raised more than $100,000 on a GoFundMe page set up to help her pay for funeral expenses and a new car.
