Aaron Glee Jr. is a Florida man suspected of killing a Tallahassee-based Black Lives Matter activist and AARP volunteer whose bodies were found together.
Police named the victims as Oluwatoyin Salau and Victoria “Vicki”Sims. In activist circles, the two women were highly regarded. Tallahassee.com reported: “The 19-year-old and 75-year-old met after recent protests over justice for black lives.” At BLM protests, Salau, known as “Toyin,” spoke out. Sims was active in Democratic politics, as well.
Salau and Sims Were Found Dead
The Tallahassee Police Department said Monday in a news release that Salau and Sims were found dead in a double murder Saturday night, June 15. In Monday Road’s 2100 block Salau and Sims have been found dead, according to Tallahassee Police.
The suspect, Aaron Glee Jr., 49, was taken into custody, police said in the news release. Authorities have not released any other information on the investigation into the double homicide.
Who is Oluwatoyin Salau?
In Tallahassee, Florida, OluwatoyinSalau was a Black Lives Matter protester who had vanished. A police and community campaign has been ongoing for days to locate her after she vanished hours after leaving a series of troubling tweets. Salau, along with 75-year-oldVictoria Sims, was found dead in the 2100 block of Monday Road, according to Tallahassee Police. Vicki Sims was an AARP volunteer, who was reported missing as well. A suspect, Aaron Glee Jr., 49, was taken into custody, police said in the press release. Orange County, Florida, prison records reveal that Glee is being held on a Leon County warrant charging him with felony murder and kidnapping. According to the prison records, he is from West Palm Beach. He was arrested on 14 June by the Department of Police in Orlando. The police press release reads: “At approximately 9:15 p.m. Saturday night, June 13th, TPD investigators arrived in 2100 block of Monday Road in the course of a follow-up investigation in a missing person case. During the course of the investigation, two deceased people were located in the area,” As the investigation continued, investigators developed a suspect. The suspect is now in custody and no more information is available at this time.”
A review of Leon County court records shows that Glee also had a 2019 marijuana possession case closed and two recent cases – a June 9, 2020 battery case and a second May 30 case of aggravated battery that is listed as open.
