Mary Anne Stephens is known for Don Shula's wife. Don Shula is an American football coach. He has been named the winningest coach in the history of the NFL. It's reported Don died at the age of 90 on Monday morning, May 4. His wife Mary Anne and her children Dave, Donna, Sharon, Anne and Mike survive. As of 2020 she is now 74 years old.

On 16 October 1993, Mary Anne Stephens and Don Shula married. The two met at the home of golfer Ray Floyd at a New Year's Day Party held in 1992 on Indian Creek Island, Florida. According to the South Florida Sun-Sentinel, they commenced dating that year. Both were previously married. In the case of Mary Anne, Shula was her 4th husband, and after his first wife, Dorothy Bartish, died of breast cancer in 1991 Shula became a widow.
When they married Shula was 63 and Mary Anne was 48, and the ceremony at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Miami Beach was small and private. The wedding was not advertised and until the last minute, the details remained private. Carl Taseff, an assistant coach for the Dolphins, said at the time according to an article: "Good for him. I felt he should marry earlier, so I'm happy for him.

Mary Anne was born the fifth of six children and grew up in a small town named Coal Hill, in Arkansas, according to the Sun-Sentinel. It sits between the valley of the Ozarks and the Arkansas River. Her father, as well as a rancher, was a soybean and cotton farmer and her mother worked as a nurse and taught the Bible.
A former Coal Hill mayor and family friend, Ben Yates, said:
They were a mighty poor family. You could look through the cracks on the floor and see the chickens underneath.
At the age of 15, Mary Anne moved out to live with her older sister Colleen and her military husband Colleen.

Those close to the couple said Mary Anne and Don Shula were very happy together. Documented by Sports Illustrated:
Shula and Stephens smooch in public, hold hands at the dinner table and nibble off each other’s plates. Mary Anne pushed her husband to be more adventurous, and to try things that he hasn’t done before, like dancing to rock ‘n’ roll, zipping around in her boat and snorkeling.
Mary Anne’s sister Colleen said:
Don and Mary Anne are blissfully happy together. They have fun, hold hands. They’re very romantic and have a lot of respect for each other.
Mary Anne also featured on the Shula's NutriSystem web site as a success story, claiming she lost 23 pounds.
