Kim played Mississippi State college basketball. Flint coached the pee wee football team of his son making the athletic abilities of the quarterback a complete effort of the team. Kim acknowledges that her son was always insane about soccer and learning the game's information.
“When he comes home there’s going to be a piece of paper somewhere with X’s and O’s left around the house,”
Kim explained to KREM CBS 2.
“If you go up in his room, there are plays everywhere. It’s always been that way.”
Gardner's time at Washington State helped make Pullman feel like a home away from home even after his son left for the NFL.
“Flint’s said it numerous times: we’re not finished with Pullman,”
Kim said to 247 Sports.
“Whenever Gardner wants to go back, Flint is ready to go back with him. I think that says it more than anything else. The people, the environment, it just feels like home. Gardner feels so connected and we do too. We will fly Ol’ Crimson in front of our house for years to come.”
The signature of Gardner's mustache has already helped create him an NFL fan's favorite. Kim noted to KREM when Gardner rose to prominence in Washington State that the mustache of her son is part of his way of enjoying the spotlight.

The name of Kim Minshew's husband and dad is Flint. He coached the pee wee football team of his son making the athletic abilities of the quarterback a complete effort of the team. He is renowned for his willingness to name his son Gardner II despite the fact that there is no original namesake One of the most fascinating components of Gardner's tale is that there is no Gardner Minshew I. Gardner's father, Flint, just wanted his son to be Gardner II, the formal name mentioned on the Jaguars website. If Gardner's grandfather, Billy Minshew, had his wish, things could have been even more exciting.
Kim Minshew's daughter and the younger sister of Gardner, Callie, plays Mississippi State college volleyball. Callie was appointed by KREM as the year's Gatorade state volleyball player. Gardner seems to be a proud older brother as he frequently posts the highlights of Callie's volleyball.
“We had a spirit weekday at the high school and middle school that was Dress Up Like Gardner Minshew Day,”
Callie told KREM.
“Everybody dressed up in mustaches and Washington State gear, aviators, caps on backwards. It was crazy going into the high school seeing teachers dressed up like my brother. It was kind of weird, but to know that he has that much support? It was kind of heartwarming.”
